What drive do I have?

Hello,
I just received used outdrive today that I ordered.
Can anyone tell me what year it is and what it is out of?

the best I can read it, it says:

OD834783 or
OD834781

it's almost invisible to read.
I know it's a Alpha one gen 2 drive with a 1.84R gear.

I'm just curious about the rest.

Both of those SN's are for a 1993 4.3L ENGINE, not an outdrive.
Neither was ever registered.

Well, that's a bummer..
That was the number that was on the drive unit itself.
I told ya it was about impossible to read.

I fail to see the Real Question.........

About the Only thing that changes with the Alpha GenII is the Gear Ratio,+ you already know that.......

With that gear ratio it was probably behind a carbed 4.3L.

The only other history you will be able to get will have to come from former owners, and that may or may not be accuate.

Pressure test it.
Replace the water pump.
New lube.
see how many years it lasts.
