i have a 96 sunbird 200 corsair cuddy with a volvo penta 5.0,how do i determine if its a volvo, or a ford.there is no model # tag per sa,just a bunch of numbers,and letters ie 502apnca thanks in advance
It's either a Ford or a Chevy engine. Volvo doesn't make their own gas engines anymore.
Ford has the distributor on the front of the engine, Chevy on the back.
You also have the OMC version of the joint venture years. With the OMC number I can see it's a 5.0L carbed engine with a 2 bbl carb and it has power steering, and it's a 96 engine.
If you go here, http://epc.brp.com/Index.aspx?lang=E&s1=f028939f-cab1-46bb-b5ee-7dfeb34670c8&brands=ej and look up your engine by model number, you will find it's a Ford engine (I can tell by looking) and it also gives you all the parts break downs and part numbers for your engine and drive.
