What Epoxy do I Use?

I plan on reinstalling my garboard drain plug because the plug would shift when tightening and one of the screws could not be tightened.

My plan to do this is the following:

1) Fill in existing holes w/ Epoxy
2) Rotate Garboard drain 45 degrees
3) Seal Garboard drain & new holes w/ 4200
4) Install screws

Is this the best approach to use? Also, what "Epoxy" should I use to fill the existing screw holes.

Thank you for your replies.

Re: What Epoxy do I Use?

Hi vwbugman69. Depending on the size of the holes there are a couple different products you can use. If the holes are smaller than a dime, or penny you can use regular JB weld 2-part epoxy which is available at virtually every tool/hardware/auto store (see pic). You simply mix the black and white products in equal amount, stir well and apply to the hole. It's a little runny at first, but will set up rock hard and can then be sanded, or machined as you like. JB also makes a marine epoxy stick/putty that's also works well. It's sort of the consistency of play-doh. The two parts are already in the putty and you simply knead them together like bread dough, then apply to the holes and let dry. Both work equally well and should be easy to find and you'll realize that you can use it on all kinds of stuff around the house. Good luck.
