Thanks folks, still learning how to get the info for this engine. Any idea of the weight, or how I can look it up?
Thanks

Re: What Evinrude 9.9 do I have?

The sales brochure I have from 1984 only lists a 635mm (25 ") model for the sail version (Yachtwin)

The weight of that is given as 40.0kg

Measure from the inside of the mounting bracket (ie top of the transom) to the join between the gearcase and the extetension and you will discover if it is 635 mm or 508mm (20").

The weight of a 508mm ordinary model is given as 35.5kg but that is not for an electric start model but It is not clear whether the weight for the Yachtwin includes electric starting or not.

Sorry thats not all that helpful!

Why not weigh it?

The sail version will have a rectifier giving you a DC output for battery charging

Hi Vic, thanks for the reply. Yes it is a Yachtwin. Won't be home to weigh it until tuesday, was just wondering. Thanks a ton!

PS...I see that this forum is similar to the Oday Sailboat one, if you ask a question you get help. I have seen a couple in which you get smart answers...or are treated like you are an idiot. I like this one!

Yep 88lbs is 40kg.

My brochure is one aimed at the Uk market hence the figures in kg.

You always get serious answers and sound advice on here.

The UK based Yachting and Boating World Foums are very good and popular world wide. There are separate boards for practical advice, general boaty chat, non-boaty banter and many other categories.
