Humminbird Piranha 5 with temp sensor. Works pretty well. I just wish the screen was a bit larger.

Hey Thom, how about we add a couple words about how satisfied we are with it?

Humminbird Piranah 3 - it's cheap & serviceable, but I wouldn't recommend it strongly; it's really more like a child's toy than a grown man's. :)

That's a good idea. Acutally I was just wondering what the distribution would look like. I expected to see a lot of Lowrance, quite a few Garmin, Furuno's of course, and others.

As for ours, it suits us very well, but its not for everyone. Its really a combination aimed at deep water performance and most folks don't need that. Our use is primarily hunting Tuna and Marlin in water between 100~500 fathoms.

Thom

Garmin Bluesea 160 - it works great. Seems to be very accurate. Includes water temp. Nice clear, big graphics. Fool proof to use.

Hummingbird Wide 100, piece of junk.. but well built housing.. no amount of relocation and differing angles will get the transducer to work at anything much above no wake speeds...

but like I said, the housing is solid.. gonna sell it and get a Navman I think.. you get more for your money.

rgds

Franki

Franki

I have the Navman gear - Fish 4500 and the Tracker 5500 (with WA maps :) )

Not bad units, I lose the sounder above 20 knots but that is probably my transducer setup

Overall, very happy and the colour screens are great.

cheers

greg

Re: What Fish Finder Do You Have?

primary is an Eagle Tri-finder on the console for trolling and locating fish/bait/structure. So far it does what I need. In the bow a humminbird that was free and is worth every penny. The 'bird is only used for depth and thats all it's worth hence the free part.

Lowrance X-4. Proud to have fewer pixels per square inch than they did on the CRT's in Apollo 14! LOL

Re: What Fish Finder Do You Have?

I have to say that I really don't understand the problem with himminbirds locking on at speed. Never had that problem on either boats I run. Maybe I just got lucky. I also have no problem seeing arches when going slower(200 DX). This has been with 3 different humminbird unit over the years. I can see my lure below the boat! I also have an Eagle which perform well too. Can't speak for others, just my experience..

I also have no problem seeing arches when going slower(200 DX). This has been with 3 different humminbird unit over the years. I can see my lure below the boat, bottom locks on a depths up to 100' and everything inbetween. I'm not gonna change, unless it lets me down. Transducer angle is important on these units,(Maybe more so) as they are on other units to get proper readings. Once I had that right, all was well. I also have an Eagle which perform well too. Can't speak for others, just my experience..
