Hi

I Thank you in advance for any help with this. What should I use and where is a good place to purchase a really effective carb cleaner to really give these a good soaking. They have never been off the motor much less rebuilt. Im sure this is the cause of a dead upper cylinder and crappy throttle response. Thank You again:confused:

Most auto parts stores sell carb cleaner in gallon cans that should work for you.

I've always used BRP Engine Tuner. One gallon can. You can soak plastic parts in it and ect and won't hurt them. Be careful of what you buy at a parts house. Some of it can ruin a carb.

If you don't necessarily want to soak it, I've always had good luck with aerosol carb cleaners too. They're kind of handy for blasting out crud in the little orifices. Just be sure to keep it out of your eyes.

Guy's over at AOMCI have been talking about using "Pinesal" cut 50/50 with water.
I haven't cleaned a carb with it yet, but I have cleaned a lot of parts with it.
It smells MUCH beter than solvent!
Good Luck

thanks for posting that Steve...I seem to be getting really sensitive to the organic solvents in most carb cleaners...it sure seems worth a try

I like to use Varsol low oder. It is a solvent but does not melt plastic. Pick it up cheap in any paint section of Lowes or Home Depot. It's like 5 bucks for a gallon.
