what gap should i have on my spark plug

i have a 1982 9.8hp ... i dont have a manual as of yet.. going to put in new plugs, what should i set the gap at

I have a 1980 9.8hp mercury. Seloc lists the gap for this engine at .040 which is where I have set mine. Did it change from 1980 to 1982?? Thanks.
