what gas to use

i have a mercury 50 2stroke on my 165 , i use regular gas, is ther a diffrence in performance and the life of the motor by switching to higher grade gas. i do put stabil in the tank when i fill it up. they say it helps with ethenal and moisture.

I'd say there's no point. The motor isn't high performance or high compression. Higher octane wouldn't get you any better results. The only thing you could do is change the oil you use. There might be a better oil then the factory merc. brand. Either a synthetic or semi-synthetic 2 stroke oil. I'm sure there's many threads and opinions on that subject here.
