what Gel coat??

is there a gel coat i can spray using my paint gun? i just want somthing easy to mix and spray on my deck.

this is my first boat repair and i dont know how to work on boats so i cut up some 1/2 plywood and fiber galssed the **** over the old deck now i need somthing to spray over it.

What was wrong with the old deck?

If it was rotting it will continue to rot. There's nothing easy about spraying gelcoat. What you want it a good marine polyurethane topside paint.

If you've got rotten wood under that new deck you're just wasting your money and possibly putting yourself and family in danger.

Please provide more info.

this is an old 1977 24ft cobia i dont want to put to much into it just enough to get it flot.
if gel coat is going to be that much trouble ill just paint it.

You haven't provided a great deal of information, but if you put in a new floor and fiberglassed over it and now you want to cover it with gel coat and have a non skid finish, then you don't need to spray it. You can roll gel coat and use sand (or other things) as the non skid additive, it's very easy to do.

before i found this site....i re gelled my ol glass boat......i told the guy i wanted boat paint....he handed me a can of gell coat....


i rolled it on the hull......grally great stuff....the finish came out all roller like....didnt flatten at all.

for a deck. id just use a roller and then what was mentioned above by ondarvr.


******however....lets hope you pulled the old deck out first. ...

if you didnt......float it for a year and sell it as a project boat next season
