1967 Evinrude 60 hp V4. Manual tilt.<br /><br />I'm pulling tilt bracket and dampers apart (which is fun when most of it's corroded solid)and cleaning them up. Honed damper and works fine now, but wondering what grade oil is best to refill? <br /><br />In case it helps, the damper has a sleeve which has a tapered gap where the ends of the sleeve don't meet and this is the oil passage. Piston is solid.<br /><br />Also looks like there should be an O ring seal where piston shaft passes through damper cap. Can I use any auto grade O ring or do I need a genuine/marine part?
