ok i spent the $2.50 on the resistors and diodes for the pertronix point upgrade .... i have tons of grey wire which is specified in the repair info ....
but which guage wire is reccomended ?
The "grey wire" specified on the "OMC SHIFT ASSIST FIX" is referring to the existing grey wire that connects your E.S.A. module to the neg. coil terminal. The diode / resistor assembly will splice in to this (grey) wire.
Hope this helps
thanks ... i got that part, i was refering to the ground wire ... to the grey wire ... am i doing this right ? or does the grey wire existing go to ground already ... ?
No connection to ground existing. The existing grey wire is straight from the coil to the module. The resistor leg of the new piece will go to ground. I used a round "eye type" connector and went to a carb bolt.
You do have the Pertronix drawing right? If not, here it is. http://www.pertronix.com/tech_support/assets/diodefix.pdf
