What horsepower is my 1978 Johnson Model#140TL78C

I bought a 1978 Ranger this spring and the Johnson Motor cover has JAVELIN 85 decaled on it. But The previous owner told me it is a 140 h.p. The model # of the Engine is 140TL78c and the Serial # is J4990328 PLEASE HELP if you can.Thank You, Chris Bartelt

To insure that the powerhead was swapped, you should verify the model number on the transom bracket serial plate with the model number stamped on the round core plug on the top of the block.
