Several months ago I removed the bearing carrier on my '96 Suzuki DT115 to repair a crack on the lower unit. Repair went good and put it all together with new seals. Also removed prop shaft to inspect and all the gears and bearings were in great condition.
Finally decided to work on it some more, and added lube to test her out. I don't have controls for it yet so just shift by hand. Ok, so when I shift in reverse it grinds a little but then pops in and seems to work fine.
But when I shift forward it won't stay unless I hold shifting arm all the way forward (this is the arm where shift cable goes). If I let go the prop will slowly stop spinning. It does not grind when shifting forward btw.
I don't remember it doing this before I removed the bearing carrier and prop shaft. Didn't have cables then either. I'm planning on taking a look to see if I see anything. I have a shop manual but was hoping to get some feedback on what I may of done wrong on putting her back together.
I did not remove the drive shaft nor shift rod btw. Only bearing carrier and prop shaft
