So we gave up on the old sea ray we had. We bought a running 1997 maxum 1900 sr. I/0 mercruiser 3.0. We are trying to do the basic tune up to get her ready to go out like change the plugs..oil....putting the alternator on that the previous owner let fall off etc. We arent sure how to find the right impeller kit since we are noobs. I did a search by serial number on the motor and nada....lots of impellers but....idk which is right and if we need all of the millions of gaskets in the kit or just the 3-4 basic kit ones...help...

Post your engine and drive serial number and we can look up the right kit for you.

Is there some kit other than the one I posted for a 97 mercruiser?

He said the boat was 1997, not the engine. Could be anything, and without the serial number?????

LOL. I guess I'm willing to take a leap of faith that a 97 boat has a 97 mercruiser in it. And since it is a 97 and they stopped making the Gen 1 in 1990, I'm again going to take a leap of faith and say that it is an Alpha 1 Gen 2.

There is a 99% chance you're right.... It's the 1% that I worry about... ;) I've been 'caught' too many times on that 1% to take much for granted anymore....

0k202053 is the serial above the outboard prop. As far as we are aware it is the original engine. Is there a way to be sure? 0k148754 is the serial on the boat title for the motor. Appreciate the help!

Re: What impeller kit do i need?

0K202053 is the transom assembly serial number, and it is indeed for a 1997 unit. The engine serial number is also a 1997.

So the correct kit will now depend on what you want in it. Just an impeller, base plate and gaskets is 47-43026T06. A full kit which includes the pump housing and the drive shaft seal assembly is -817275T05. You won't know which one you need until you pull it apart. No point in buying an impeller kit if you're going to need the housing too, no point in buying the full kit if your existing housing is in good shape...

Re: What impeller kit do i need?

Thanks that helps a ton. Are we safe to say we dont need the housing if it runs fine? It was properly winterized and started up fine and had no probs last year besides the alternator. We are only replacing as a maintenance item. Or is there something specific we should look for to determine replacement?

Have a watch of the videos I've done on Gen II water pump servicing, all the questions you asked will be answered in those videos...

Chris.........

A list of the videos are in the 'stickies' at the top of the forum ('Adults only' section)... Under 'Mercruiser Information'...

If you still can't find it, click HERE.
