We were going to glass over our front bow eye wood and we totally forgot about these things that we had been trying to decide if we should cut them off or not.

As you can see it will make it very hard to flatten out our PB and lay glass into.

What are they, should they stay?

From the pic it looks a cardboard tube cut in half. If that's what it is, these tubes are what the fiberglass is rolled around when the builder buys it. They get used for many things, not sure if I've seen it used like that before though.

If it is a C/B tube cut in half, then just grind it smooth and glass over everything, what sticks up is of no value.

I've got the same thing on my boat. It's a 1976 Fiberform runabout with a closed bow. It's difficult to get up there to inspect it since the gas tank is in the way but the bow eye bolts go through it exactly the same way as yours does. Maybe the cardboard is used as a cushion so jerks on the bow eye aren't so bad???
