Hi everyone,

I'm having to re-wire my 5.7 Mercruiser and in the service manual wiring schematic, it says there is an inline fuse that connects the red (hot) wire directly from a terminal on the starter solenoid to the battery terminal. I'm running 8ga for this wire.

Does anyone know what fuse I need or the part number?

I can't find it in the manual...

Thanks!

The oem is a 90A fuse link but you can substitute a Maxi-Fuse in its place. You only protecting the alt feed so a 50 or 60 amp maxi will do. Personally I wire the Red system power direct to the starter post because that is protected by the 50 A circuit breaker. If you combine the alt output and system power on the same stud when it blows your dead in the water instead of just losing the alt charge.
