I've got a 1999 115 FICHT engine here and don't have much experience with them. The heads were pulled when I got it, so I checked the cylinder walls and didn't find any grooving to speak of. Thought there might be some really, really light grooving, so I ordered a new set of O rings for it. Put the heads on and compression is 82, 80, 82, 37. It would indicate for sure that the one cylinder needs to be reworked but can anyone tell me what standard compression on this motor should be-just roughly speaking?

There is no standard for psi. The standard would be all cylinders within a 10% span. Your engine does not meet that standard.

Your numbers seem lower than typical. Guage, conditions or technique could account for that, but the low cylinder has a problem.

Good luck. :)

Any chance that you can find out why the heads had been pulled?
That might save some diagnostic time.
