Hello have an 850 on a 16ft bayliner, was wondering what prop? I bought a 12 3/4 X 21 pitch per merc. prop buying size guidelines and its too much blade.
Do you mean it won't fit or the motor struggles.Don't be afraid to give us lots of details just stick with the detailsI would suspect a 21 would be too much prop.
Do you have any performance specs? You really can't do a prop selection without your present max rpm and speed. If you read the stickies at the top of the page and the helps at the prop store page it will give you an idea of what we need.
Thanks steelspike, went to the marina and he recommended a 13 1/4 x 17 so thats what i got, this merc. likes about 5500rpm so thats what i will be shooting for. The marina owner was in a very good mood and traded me my new michigan wheel prop (only used once) for a brand new merc. quicksilver prop straight across, hows that for service? the prop guide/application from michigan wheel was way out of whack.
I have the Merc 800, 80hp, and I use the 17 pitch 13.25. I had a 19 which was to great. Then again, I have a fairly heavy boat. 16' Trihull. 17 -19 sounds about right for your setup.
took the boat out again today and runs beautifully, hole shots good and top end speed was around 35-40. I dont have a speedometer or rpm gauge but it sounded about right, very pleased.
