Hello,

Can some one please help me with 2 questions.

In the photo what is in the reservoir with the orange cap? The fluid is very low, off the dip stick. Power steering is my guess? if that is correct do I fill/check it hot or cold? can I just get fluid off the shelf at Napa?

#2 My hours meter on the dash is not working? where does it get it's reading from? Is there any way to test the meter it self? I have it out of the boat trying to figure out what gives it a signal that the engine is running.

yes that is your power steering pump.
right off the shelf at napa works fine.
most have a hot and cold check line on the dip stick but it is usually better to check hot.

Check for +12v at the wires to the hourmeter when the key is on. If so, the meter is probably defective. If no 12v, connect the hot wire to a purple lead in the engine harness, black to ground.

You can test the meter by putting 12v to it from a battery charger or 12v adapter. There may be a small rotating wheel on the face to show that it's running.
