I am sorry for being so dumb. I have tried to find out in other web locations but am not real successful so I am here asking for help.
I recently bought an old boat and motor. Maxum 19' with an engine on the back. I was told at purchase that it was a Johnson. There was a problem with the starter so I took the starter to a shop and the guy said it was a mercury engine. I have logged on to Mercury parts express and it recognized the serial number ob304699 and says it is a model 9100412td.
I am going to have get some parts but I think I need to know exactly what size it is plus year. Do you folks have any ideas on this?
There are other problems but I am using the service manual at the library for the time being until I can get an owners manual ordered, but first things first like "What is it?"
Sorry for being a newbie and any help is appreciated.

Re: What is it?

As shown on the mercury parts express site, you can determine that it is either a 100 or 115hp 4 cylinder.

As for the year, the starting serial no. for the 115hp wasn't until "OC100000"...circa 1989

That means your motor is a 1988 4 cylinder 100HP Mercury per s/n 0B304699
