What is my boat motor?

I recently aquired a boat motor though trade, the outside cover says Johnson 175 HP, but I found the freeze plug and it has 200TL79A stamped on it with 15170322 below that, so I'm assuming a 79 200hp. I also found another number stamped on it 524354 which I think is a Merc number. It also has little M logos stamped all over the block. It is a V6, with a carborator. I have been looking for a manual, but haven't found one. Someone told me Merc made motors for Johnson 1979 - 1981. Need help, cause it needs some repair. Any advice appreciated!

The M is for OMC. Outboard Marine Corporation. Merc and OMC were arch enemies.

It is a '79 and you can get a manual right here at iboats and no it isn't a Mercson, i woudl really question Merc making engines for OMC, as stated they didn't play well together.

Don't try to save money with a Clymers or Seloc or anything on CD as you will be coming back to buy an OEM manual, it covers your engine only, if it is in the manual it pertains to your motor unlike the others that cover 15-20 different engines.

If money is tight you can get them on Ebay, avoid the CDs, they are worthless.
