What is my throttle position?

I found the info below in the 'top secret file' for cold starting a motor.

"Put motor in neutral
Place the throttle in the start position.
Fully engage the choke.
Pull starter rope, or press start button until the engine starts.
As the engine begins to run, slowly slide the choke lever in. The rate of choke disengagement will vary greatly with each individual outboard. Some require immediate disengagement, others require slow disengagement. Know your outboard.
Visually inspect tell-tale for solid stream indicating proper cooling.
As the choke is disengaged and the motor warms up, slowly back the throttle off from start to the shift position."

I have a 1961 18 HP Johnson, that I just got running again after rebuilding the carbs. But I am not sure what is the different positions that my throttle on the tiller handle can be in? If there is anything that is supposed to be printed on the handle, it has surely rubbed off by now.

Also, I am getting alot of smoke while the motor is idling, so I know I will need to adjust the low speed needle, right?

Also, (and this is the stupidest question of all), how do I kill the engine? Is there just an 'off' button somewhere that I did not know of?

It's nice to at lease have it running finally. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
