what is that little hole?

There is a little hole on bottom right side of the lower unit on this johnson 35 hp sea horse (1958 I think) and we are wondering what it is, its not the filler hole and its not the higher vent screw thing so could someone help us figure this thanks.

That is one of the water drain holes and should be kept free of debris. It's design was prompted by engines that are used in freezing climates. Without that drain, the water would freeze and crack the lower unit housing.
