Dear starcraft and other side console boat owners---I have a simple question. What is the distance between the center point of the drivers seat and the center of the steering wheel? I am at the point in my project where i need to locate the pedestal base. Here in Florida--everything is center consoles--so i can not find one to measure?? Please help!!!!!!!

thanks

The correct distance is whatever you want it to be. Put the seat in place and start moving it around until it feels right. You can always get an adjustable base if you think it needs to be moved for different needs. This is an upgrade on high end boats.

The position its in from the factory is just a compromise for what may work for the tallest and shortest owners.

Thanks guys---i am putting the pin pedestal bases in --so i can use a backer plate and bolt them in---before i secure the floor. I will build my console later----so i just need a place to start. i am guessing 18-24" from center of chair to the wheel.

Sit at your dining room table. Pretend that the edge of the table is the steering wheel. Now scoot your chair back until the distance feels comfortable and you can grab the edge of the table. This should be you approx distance needed. One thing to keep in mind. If you are putting in pedestal seats, do not put them too close to the sides. When you try to turn around, the seat back will hit the side of the boat. When sitting in the seat, the back will flex some so make sure that you leave enough room on the side for the seat to spin, then scoot it over another 2 or 3 inches.

Most owners want 18" between seat and wheel.

Might want to make sure you can stand between the seat and the wheel.

I played around with it to get it comfortable to me- cause it's my boat and that's that.
