What is the best Christmas Gift you ever received?

Just wondering what gifts you may recall getting in the past that have meant the most to you? (not including kids or spouses of course )
For me, I think it was when my wife (not at the time tho') got me a kitten. Growing up our family always had a cat and I guess I had mentioned this to her enough times that it stuck.
At any rate, that kitten became a cat and she was with us for almost 20 years before we lost her to old age a few years ago.
She was a rescue cat of sorts and was a purebred Bengal (beautiful cat) and a very good friend of my wife had an opportunity to find her a home (for free!!) so my wife went for it.
As well, that particular gift comes to mind due to the longevity of the joy it/she produced I guess.:...definitely a gift that kept on giving.
Any others want to wade in on their best gift or really, maybe their best memory related to the spirit of giving and gifts.

The only gift that really stands out is when I was about 11 or 12 my dad gave me a cox spitfire airplane, one of those ones were you controled it with string.
So boxing day for some reason we took it to the parking lot of the local mall which was empty, fired it up, brother let it go, it went straight up and straight down and busted into 100 pieces :facepalm:
so having no way to repair the damage I was quite peeved for the next few months, till I seen my little brothers broken plastic dump truck, removed the dump portion, mounted the motor to it, fired it up and watched it go like stink around the yard!!!

I am betting that the truck would have been more entertaining than the plane anyways as you just let it go on its own and watch it do whatever it wanted.

Oh, and I would've shot my eye out had I not had my eyeglasses on. Ricocheted directly back at the center of my left eye and took a chunk of the lens out. I never told my parents.

When I was 9, my parents got me my first bike, a brand new Honda XR100R. Best thing ever, been riding and racing for over 20 years now. I still remember that day!

Christmas 2007. a brand new 2008 Silverado LTZ with a 6.0 Aluminum Block motor--I have 170,000 miles on it and still enjoy driving it.

My dad gave me a 15hp Merc for no real reason this spring (though I had just hit 10 years in the same job) so I said it would count for Christmas and birthdays for the next decade.

I still have mine! Still in one piece. I remember getting very dizzy while flying it. Dad told me to sit down once, I call it more I fell down I was so dizzy.

As far as the best gift, I would say the "last" one each Christmas when I was a kid. My folks always hid a gift that was saved until the end. You know the drill, "I think Santa left one more gift in the closet"? It was always a gift that made you say, "I'll be good forever"! Of course, the folks wanted to hold ya to it even tho they knew better....lol

A trout fishing net from Ktell. I still have it and will have it forever as it came from my mother who is not with us any more.


Rob I had one of those planes also. We use to get two going at the same time and have dog fights. The faster plane always one.

They call those control line planes. I built one some years ago with my dad and did the same as your little Cox. Over the top and right into the ground. Fixed it. Repeat. Gave up. Lol


I really can't think of a stand out best gift unfortunately. I got a single shot 20ga at about 10 and a new 870 at probably 14 so I guess those are it?

cant get in to too much detail with out getting banned from the site but when i was based in Italy i was friends (just friends with a super hot Italian girl. She supprised me x-mas eve, lets just say it involved a few bottles of vino a bottle of baby oil and a red bow! God bless her!

Hey, I had one of the PT trainer planes!!...never did fly it, but I started it up about 100 times.
As for Honda XR100 dirtbike....wow, lucky guy. I wanted a motorbike (Yamah 80) so bad when I was a kid. The best my Dad said was if I save up half he will kick in the other half.
What with that new cars as gifts? How do you swing that JB and Aftcab?....I would never have thought of that one with my wish list.
Another memorable gift that didn't even last through boxing day was a 'Vertibird' (whirlybird) helicopter that actually lifted and flew around in circle via a fine wire...which of course with a lot usage fatigues and breaks...mine was no different. I distinctly remember having to move onto a different gift because my Dad wouln't stop playing with it.

My wife. The very first Christmas we had as a married couple was in 1974 and I picked her up at the airport in Germany Christmas eve. We had little to no money and were newly married in November. It was probably the most memorable one.
