What is the best prop size?

I have a 20' Odyssey Millenium with a Mariner 40HP Jet 30 3 cyliner 2-stroke. I am completely at a loss for a replacement prop. The one that is one currently is a little beaten up by the previous owner. The motor does great on the water but I was wondering if I could get MORE from the motor with a different prop? I do not know what size or pitch I have right now but it is a 3 prop. I believe the tag on the motor says either 5,000 rpm or 5400 rpm (hard to read). Any thoughts or suggestions. My main concern is not damaging the motor.

If you read the stickies at the top ofd the page and the helps at the prop store page it will help you understand prop selection better.We will bve glad to help clear up any confusion.
We need a lot more info.What is an Odyssey?A pontoon?
Year of the motor?
Prop size should be on the barrel or under the prop nut.
Do you know your present rpm and speed?
