What is the best way to identify an unknown Yamaha outboard?

I own a parts business and in the process of closing out a marina, we've brought in about 3 or 4 unidentified Yamaha motors. Actually, there's been some Suzukis as well but I'm more concerned with the Yamahas at the moment. These were just powerheads, removed from the transom brackets, so I have no idea of HP, models, or serial numbers. Is there any way to identify these motors and be sure about it???

Incidentally, the ownership of every manufacturer who ever made a motor with no other identification than the transom bracket (all of them at some point) should be shot so they can't accidentally reproduce.

As a start you can post pics, I am sure there are a few members here that will recognize what they have had .....
