I have a 1985 johnson 150(J150TLCOS). What is the difference between a 150 and a 175? Based on my research, it's just the cylinder heads and carb jetting? I know it shares the same block and bore and stroke. Any help out there?

I'm sure the difference is 25 HP.
I was always good at math.

I really can't answer your question 100% factually but since I feel bad for being a smart a** here's the best I can do. I've seen the same question asked many times about 9.9/15HP and most people think it's just a carb difference. But I've heard that the intake and exhaust porting is different also, meaning you can't just change carbs or jets and expect the added horsepower. I hope someone with ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE will answer your question.:D
