What is the difference from the 1998 merc to the upgraded 1989's?

I see they must of upgraded in 1989.Does anyone know what the differences was from the 1988 model mercs to the 99's?I tried to find pics of both models on the net but there is none.Just wondering if it was major or just a new cosmetic look.
