What is the difference?

The boat is a 94 Crownline with a 2bbl 5.0 Liter Mercruiser and alpha 1 drive with 1.65 gears.

My current prop is a Michigan Wheel 48-78122 it is a 13.75 X 21 pitch. With this prop and a quick test run, I could get 50mph GPS with 2 and lots of gear in the boat, bimini top up, bow cover off. The rpms were right about 5200, which is a little bit high on this motor. I could only get the trim a little below half, before it started to blow out. This is why I was looking for a new prop. I have run the Hustler Props before on my old boat and they were great on that boat, this one is alot heavier though.

I just got a new Prop that is a Hustler and it is 14 1/4 X 21 Pitch, so I was just trying to figure out what the differences might be.

What will the cupping from Hustler do compared to this older MW prop? Also should it help to push the bow up more with less trim?

Thanks,
Bryan

If you already have the prop put it on and let's see what it does. Doesnt sound like to much guess work should be involved, but it should drop your rpm to 5000... that is it should.

I didn't know a half inch increase diameter would drop the rpm's by about 200. Thanks for the info. Would an increased diameter help with reducing blowout? This is for my boat not the one that started the thread. It seems that I can barely turn at all with the trim adjusted for speed and the thing blows out. If I turn the only way to keep the prop from blowing out is to trim bow down totally then it doesn't blow out. Its a 14 1/4 x 21 aluminum that I assume came with the boat new.
