What is the purpose of this link on the Carberator?

I have a 1975 135Hp Johnson, model 135ETL75E. For the most part it runs fine. Have done a lot of work to it to get it there.

Anyway, I was reading a post and noticed a link that attaches from the lower carb throttle cam to the lower carb choke cam. This is missing on my engine and certainly does not seem to impact its performance.

Can someone please tell me the function of this link? See attached picture of a similar model motor with arrow pointing to link.

Also, great web site! Mostly look at issues similar to what I am experiecing and have been able to resolve every one of them to date with your help. Thanks.

Isn't the end just out of your picture frame attached to the choke shaft?
Advance your throttle to WOT and see if locks the choke wide open.
