What is the right RPM at WOT???

Noticed my RPM at WOT is 5400... Is this ok with the 1993 Johnson model number J90TLETS. MY prop size right now is 13 1/2 X 17... thanks for all the help.....

Hi, Skeeter.<br /><br />The current version of that engine has an operating range from 4500 to 5500, so it sounds to me like you are propped just right.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

skeeter<br />There should be a plate on the transom bracket of your engine that will show you max RPM and operating range ;)

You still may want a spare, but at least you know what size to get.

You didn't mention what type of load that you are at 5400. If that's fully loaded that's pretty good. If that's with a light load, you need to get the RPM's up. <br /><br />We like to prop out those motors with an average load in the boat and we look for 5600 to 5800 RPM with todays fuel in mind. If you do choose to look for a few more RPM's, try raising the motor (increase the X dimention) rather than going to a smaller prop. You may pick up some additional performance.<br /><br />Good luck!
