Considering the cost of the integrated volvo trim pump

"This pump is integrated into the transom shield.

Based off the schematics at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com The part number for the SX-A is: 21573834, however that has been replaced by:

PART NUMBER PART DESCRIPTION BRAND RETAIL PRICE YOUR PRICE QUANTITY
21945915 TRIM PUMP (inc pump cover) Volvo Penta $1,223.80 $1,174.85

If the hose ends are the same thread what about a merc manifold inside the boat and merc hoses from there to the merc trim pump. The replacement trim motor for volvo and the pump for merc lok exactly the same . So is the pressures are the same ,why not convert it?

The pump in the transom shield is very different from the MerCruiser pump. Also the hydraulic lines don't screw in, they have o-rings on both ends and use a plate that's held on by a bolt.
While the early ones had some problems there haven't been many troubles with the newer ones.
