Water Pressure for your outboard. If it's hooked up it will tell you if the waterpump is pumping water without having to check the tell tale.

Re: what is this gauge?

You've got to run an airline hose from the back of the gauge to a place on the motor where you can T off of the hose leading to the pee hole. That hose will then carry water and some air back to the gauge. The air will be trapped between the water and the gauge and will indicate the pressure on the gauge. I use mine quite a bit on startup just to make sure I have good water pressure. I have a partyhut 30 and my motor and the pee hole are not easy to see from the helm so the gauge is very helpful. Good luck!

Re: what is this gauge?

Awesome thread and Awesome answers. I have just purchased a 1990 SeaPro 204 and that same gauge is on there. The best part is, I could not figure out why there was a T on my pisser tube and what the heck the air hose in the back of my boat was. LOL this is awesome.

Re: what is this gauge?

Every 2 stroke needs such a gauge. You don't see'em on 4 strokes, however.

Don't see the need on a 2 stroke over a 4 stroke. The cooling is basically identical on each.?
In fact I would think the 2 stroke would be slightly less sensitive being that it doesn't have the need to keep the exhaust valves
and confined exhaust passages cool.

And just what makes you think that??? That engine still has a water pump and an water pump not doing it's job can still ruin an engine. Many people feel the WP gauge somehow provides an indication of overheating as well. It most certainly does not. It tells you IF, and HOW WELL the water pump is doing its job. The pump can expell water like a race horse but the engine can still be overheating so the temperature alarm and/or a water TEMP gauge are still needed.
