What Is This Hole???

87 ALPHA ONE-1,
I recently replaced the Gimbal Bearing & all Belows.
I did not notice anything going to the small hole above the water tube (directly below the crankshaft).
Now water enters the boat thru this hole freely.
I must have missed something...
Anyone know what I did wrong or what this hole is?

That is a hole leading to the driveshaft bellows area. If you have water entering the boat from that hole then you have problems. That means you are getting water in your driveshaft area.

When you replaced the bellows and reinstalled the outdrive you must have missed something, or installed defective bellows, or accidentally cut the bellows, or maybe got the big rubber o ring caught, or.... lot of possibilities. You will have to pull the outdrive and check again.

The pic is upside down, but more important is that you either improperly installed the u joint bellows or punctured it somehow on installation......
Water coming from that hole means water in your u joint bellows.....
EDIT,: Beat me to it, Mark.....
If he is lucky, it is the large o ring that was not properly in place.....

Thanks to both.
The leak did not happen right away but about an hour into the 1st run after replacing the bellows. I ran for about an hour, then I was at a dock for about an hour, with the motor pretty high due to shallow water.
I am hoping the bellows pulled off of the gimbal housing...
I know I had a good grip with the clamp against the transom plate. If this is the case, what are the chances it did not get tore up by the u-joints?
I guess I should have a back up.

A small leak might take an hour to get to the level of the seep hole.....​
