Not sure what this is and should it attach to some place
There is a aluminum part attach where the motor attaches to the deck and the top part does not attach to anything
Is this just some kind of fin ?
I will try and attach a picture

Seems to be the splash guard on the left side of the motor pod. Should also be one on the right side of the pod. It kind of looks like it's been stressed somewhat, but, basically it deflects water.

Disagree. That is a brace that has been broken and hammered up out of the way. It provided support for the bottom of the transom to eliminate the stress of the forward thrust of the engine. The angle iron is also not standard nor is the piece of wood under it. The angle iron would normally be aluminum. Have no idea what repair was accomplished but the brace definitely needs to be tied into that angle iron.

Looks like a bent spray rail from where I'm sitting as well? Angle iron appears to be part of the trailer the boat is sitting on (with a 2x4 bolted to the top of it?)? Spray rail damage like that is caused by a trailer when the boat isn't loaded properly. The angle iron part of the trailer ends up under the spray rail, and when lifted causes the spray rail to be bent as seen in the pic.

Thankis for the answers , I think you are right the trailer caused this damage . This pontoon is new to me so just sorting out all the issues . What should this look like can anyone post a picture of this section ? Guess I could go look at a boat dealer , Buit that would only make me want new stuff that I can't aford
The trailer is the next thing on my list to do mods to after I finish the seats , rails , new console and get the motor running or replaced
I knew this would need some work when I traded the old tri hull for it

Need better pics to be sure. Different angles and farther away as well. I agree with silver though, someone has jacklegged something there for sure.

What brand of toon do you have? Is there something similar on the other side of the pod? Step back for a few more pics.

Top of it should be at about 90 degrees to the transom, about level with the water line?

This is a 1990 Landau PT20 DL , I have searched the internet for pictures and can not find any
Yes both sides of the pod have these aluminum plates
The trailer rails and the motor make it hard to see so stepping back to take another picture I don't think will help
After I get this running , I will be taking the motor off to fix the issue and taking the trailer out for repairs
Some angles need to be removed , I want to add some side bunks to center the boat and it needs more tongue weight
Steps to get on when lauching
Project yes Fun yes , more fun next year in retirement

Is that one of those scissor style trailers that support between the tubes against the underside of the deck ? I've never actually seen one in person.

No , this one is just narrow does not lift , but does support it from the botton of the deck between the tubes
The problem with this trailer is no centering bunks so tire will rub on tube if not tied down good
I will be adding some bunks to help with that
Also with the boat loaded I have very little tongue weight , so will add some weight to the front and a spare tire

Re: What is this plate by the transom

My G3 has a similar set of plates. I called the factory and they said it was supposed to angle up from 90 degrees. Somewhere between 90 and 180 degrees. My are bent somewhat, but the angle is correct. I bought mine used and the previous owner said the indoor storage fork lifts probably abused them. Just some thoughts!

I found that the trailer I have will always bend this up , so is this really needed ? what does it do ?
I think I will modify my trailer to have the pontoons ride on a bunk insted of riding on the deck
That way I can fix this and get some tongue weight , as the way it is I had less the 75lbs It did tow well though
Still thinking of changing the trailer to single axel as this thing is really hard to back up or turn sharp
The new 20 ft boats I see all are on single axel trailers , and we will not be towing this more the 20 miles most of the time
The axels look to be from a old house trailer cut down , and they have electrick brakes ( not hooked up ) Those will be removed and bearings checked and repacked
Sorry of the long post , just like having a project and some place for answers
