Sorry...I don't have a pic. I know it would help a lot. Anyway, I have a Johnson Super Sea-Horse 80 H.P.
(Circa. 1960s). Where the engine mounts on the transom, there is a hook looking thing on the engine. My guess would be that it's locks on to the transom in some way. My concern is it looks like it's going to be in the way when I try and put the engine on the boat. There is no place for it to hook. Thoughts???

i think what you are talking about is probably the reverse lock hook. it hooks on to the trim pin in the transom bracket.

A lot of those old OMC motors had a real thick spring to assist in tilting the motor. When that motor is off the transom, that spring can really spin the transom bracket. It could cut off a finger or break a leg, I would bet. Make sure the motor is locked to the transom bracket, and be careful.
