What is this thing?

Ok so I cant seem to figure out what this thing is, or what it does.

I have lots of pictures on different sites but nothing that really explains it too me.

I was hoping maybe someone out here might be able to give me a small explination of what, why , and what it does, where the lines go or should go.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ayuh,... It's a part of reverse-lock/ position sensor......

If the trim pump has been up-dated, it's probably obsolete...

Not the reverse lock, it's the hydraulic portion of the trim gauge sender.

Yes, Don is correct as usual. This is or was the sending unit for your trim gauge.

ok so the boat has been hacked to pieces and put together to make it work over the years I guess.

When I had it apart, the Trim stop switched was all rusted and junk. so I replaced it.

btw, its not the trip switch on the left and right like most Stern drives, its a momentary switch at the top, so when it hits , it breaks connectivity.

sooo, my next question, since I am piecing this together from air.

Do I need it? all I have is whats in the picture, so am I missing anything? I am looking at that picture posted and it looks like I might be.
