What is this wire? 2001 HPDI 150.

I have twin Yamaha HPDI 150's (2001). On the starboard side of the motor I find this gray wire that comes off of a pigtail and a loose gray wire. They are disconected on both motors. Is this correct, and what do they go to? Thanks

they plug together for the overheat visual indicate on the 6y5 digital tach.
