I need to find about 10' of what I call flat wire. this wire connects the trim switch to the wiring harness on my sig boat. It seems as though it was 16 gauge or smaller, and was 3 strand, and was jacketed in black plastic/vinyl.

Boat is currently double covered and stored in back corner of warehouse, not real convenient to get into and get a pic. But I can if I need to. I was just hoping that one of you guys would know what it was and where it can be found.

Close....thanks. Used your answer and replaced the 16/4 with 16/3 and got nothing.Found either 16/2 or 16/4. With the space requirements I'd be a bit afraid to go with the 4. The name "Ribbon Cable" gives me something to search on though. Thanks!!!

4 is just the number of wires... the extra won't hurt a thing OR you can easily peel it off leaving 3 strands

Or, if it is easier to locate, WW and other auto parts stores carries a trailer wiring harness, about 15' long that would work for a reasonable price. And on this cable too, you can pull off the wires you don't need. Assuming the white, yellow, brown, and green color coding won't be a problem. I think they are 16 AWG.

I thought about using the 4way flat trailer wire stuff. I have some of that out here. The original wire is jacketed, which I think gives it a little more resistance to wear from vibration. May go that route, and see what happens...

Original problem was that the cable/wire was misrouted and wore through. This caused the fuse (Thank god for fuse protection) to blow constantly. It took a while at the dock to figure out where the problem was, and to get the outdrive up. I re-routed the wire, and taped it up to get me through the last week or two of summer.

My preference would be to return it to like new condition by finding the original type wire. Maybe I'm being too a**l!!

In finding that for you, I actually found what I needed for another project! :)

I have bought a lot of wire, waterproof crimp connectors, and custom battery cables from them. They are the best.
