what is this worth.. 2000 40 hp johnson

I am going to look at this motor in the morning but I have been trying to find comps to get an idea what it is worth.. Considering good compression.. It looks to be in good shape and comes with controls and oilk tank.. I have had no luck with comps and nada says around $800. Sounds a little low to me.. I am hoping a couple late night guys can chime in for me because I am leaving to look at it in 7 hours..

10 yrs old, maybe 50% the price of a new one.
Last yts leftovers will be on sale round about now at dealers.

You can also buy a 30 yr old that runs almost good as new , mine is a 1959 and still runs good after 50 years, I paid $125.
Parts are easy to buy and they're very simple to work on.

everything working properly, $1,000. it is has "tilt assist," make sure it is working, the cables had a tendency to break.

It depends on where you live. You will never be able to find a 2000 40 hp around here for $1000 that runs.

I sold my 2001 johnson 50 hp to my buddy for $1800.....

the going price varies wildly depending on where you live.

1985 40 hps running good go for $1000 around here!!

Bod is right..check Craigs list history or local sales paper..but 1K sounds about right.
