What is this little plug on my control box?

when unplugged, tilt trim still work, the motor will still crank, and electric primer still works.

IT's for a tachometer. Can also be used as a switched power source for something else such as a radio.

is it just wired in with everything else, or is that wired directly to the motor somewhere?

I am getting a new motor for my boat, but keeping my old controls...just wondering what i need to do with this.
