Hi guys,
Trying to figure out what the grey "thing" is and where the bare wire goes? The motor is a 1986 VRO 120hp Looper.

Thanks for the help

IMO it looks like a fuel restriction valve which sends a signal to your warning horn of a restriction in fuel flow. Where does the other wire shown go; to ground or to the harness; if the other wire goes to the harness then that wire should go to ground. But let one the gurus chime in and tell you exactly what it is. Good luck

Then that wire should hook to a wire going to the harness that goes up to the boat console and the horn; not sure of the exact wiring but hopefully some of the gurus will chime in to help you. Good luck

It looks like a VOES Switch from a Harley. It's used to advance the timing when a load accours on lower revs causing a hugh vacuum but only in those ignition systems that uses that utility. I think the function of the valve is that it connects the two leads to each-other if a vacuum is applied to it through the hose. I don't know what to use it for on your engine though.

Its a vacuum switch for a V6 engine. Looks like the switch, VRO pump and bracket switched to this engine. V4 not factory equipt with this switch or bracket.

Clanton nails it. Someone used the whole rig from a V6 on that V4. You will not have anywhere to plug the wiring in.... Wanna sell it?
