What is this?

Good morning,
Long time listener first time caller... What are these round things on each side... They have wires going to them so its something electric... What do they do and does anyone have a general wiring diagram how they work??? I am sure there is information already on here but its hard to search when you don't know what they are called... It is a Alpha One Gen 1 Sterndrive 1984 3.0 140... Thanks.

your need to be replaced

The starboard side is just a potentiometer going to your trim gauge, one wire to the gauge, the other to ground. The left side is the trim limit, which is just an 'open/close' switch wired to the trim pump harness to limit the UP trim. That function can be overridden with the 'Trailer' button.

So there is no stop for the drive to stop when it is all the way down?

correct, lust listen for the trim pump to bind, then give it a touch of up to releive the pressure

Ayuh,..... That's backwards BD,.....

The pump unloads, 'n whines when full down,.....
The pump loads up, 'n binds at full Up,.....
