My new, old, boat is basically put away hard to get at it for the winter. So I’m posting a picture of the transom and to the left of the big motor and to the right of the black cable is a round painted white fitting at the bottom of the transom. What is it and could it be my problem of taking on water. I had it out twice, eliminated some other potentials now I’m on that fitting to see if that’s the problem. Inside the transom is hard to get at with no visibility to see it without some rip and tear. Thank you.

The round thing (arrow) is not the problem with splash back. I think it's the circled part - The cut down transom. How deep is the motor? Hard to tell in the pic, but it looks awfully low.

Can you post a side view with the motor trimmed down?

It’s not a splash back thing where water is going over top of the transom, if that’s what your saying, although some water does come in but stays in the splashback and out it goes again, but I will check closer to see if possibly the splash back area has a crack or something. But back to the white round thing which looks almost like a vent cap, do you know what it is or what it does.

Do you have a bait well on the boat? Looks like a water intake for a live bait well. Maybe the boat had one at one time? My buddy has a leak in a line from his and it took on a lot of water till he figured it out! LOL!

Looks like an early to mid 90's Spectrum boat.
Transom is made that way.

Yes, the plastic screen is the intake for the live well.

Plumbing on the inside has likely disintegrated/broken, mine did.

I removed the screen and applied a permanent plug to the hole, used 3m 5200 to seal it in place.
No more leak.

I just used the livewell to store our rain gear anyway.

!994 Spectrum to be exact Roscoe, it also has two bungholes both about eight inches apart near the bottom of the boat one to drain the bilge and the other I'm not sure what its for? A boatplug is a shade to small for it.and no threads, I've only had the boat out twice and temporarily plugged the second bung hole which didn't stop my water problem. So I still don't know what that second hole is for. I will also take your advice and plug the screen hole once I determine its my cause of water coming in. Thanks for your help.

Hard to tell from the one pic, and I've never had one of those boats, but the other "bunghole" may be livewell discharge line (unless it is in the side of hull nearer the livewell). Plugging fittings is one part, making sure the fitting is sealed to the transom is another.

The 3 holes are:
1 bilge drain
2 livewell inlet
3 livewell drain

Removable plug for the bilge drain.

Seal the other 2.
