Hi to all,

I have been reading this forum since I purchased a 1993 Bayliner Jazz with a 90HP Sport Jet at the end of July and have found this read to be a very helpful, thank you very much! Our Bayliner jet boat started and ran great on the test drive but since then its been one ignition problem after another. The first time it lost spark I unplugged the rev limiter (Learned here) and it ran. So we replaced the rev limiter and a week later it lost spark again. It turned out to be loose magnets in the fly wheel.(Also learned here) So we replaced the fly wheel and updated to the red stator as well as the regulater/rectifier because it wasn't charging well enough.(More good lessons from here) It started and ran great for 3 outings and then more problems!!!! The switch box failed and we replaced that..OUCH, THAT ONE LEFT A MARK!!!! So now I figured its ready because we replaced all the ignition parts except the coils and the trigger. It ran great again for about another 3 outings and quit.(What the.......) Figured out that the ignition switch was making poor contact on the choke solenoid circuit and probably the starter circuit. Replaced the ignition switch, and it starts with a touch of the key. During all this we did a compression test and the 2 top cylinders check 125 pounds but the bottom cylinder checks 100 pounds. Its starts and runs great / tops 40 MPH. This boat is not oil injected as its a 93.(First model) My question is, can I depend on it and run it this way next season or should I be looking into a ring job right about now? Should I just stick to if its not broke don't fix it?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Aww---run her till she blows--remember "A boat is just a hole in the water into which we throw $$$$" Throw enough JACK at anything and it'll run---good luck--Steve

Yeah ya right! B. O. A. T. is definitely an acronym for
Bust Out Another Thousand$$$$$$$$$$.

Hoping to avoid a mid summer melt down next season as I wrestle with the fact that its now running good.
