Im looking for a boat between 26'-30' I want it to have a flybridge and cabin to preferably sleep 6 but possibly 4, maybe a walk around depending on how much room to fish and dive from in the back. Ill be taking it up to 30 miles out in the gulf. It needs to be a fixer upper or mechanic special for my price range, age ranging for mid to late 70s - mid to late 80s. Ive been looking through craigslist at bertram 28s and trojans and have found some that fit my interests but was wondering if there's any other that maybe i should check out. My best friend has a 22 ft CC, so were definitely wanting something with a cabin that a couple of us can take out for a couple days at a time. Ive found alot of Bayliners but already read enough on these forums to know to stay away from them. Any suggestions on some to look for ?
carver, Luhrs, silverton..... ?

Welcome to iboats.

A "fixer upper" really will not save you any money. Find an older boat and have it surveyed so you get a proper report of what it needs. Many of the older boats with a flybridge and cabin were maintained nicely but a survey will be your best avenue. The larger Bayliner's had totally different construction then their smaller siblings so don't count them out. ;)

If you can locate a Bertram, I would certainally go with that, they are timeless and worth money no matter the shape. Bluefin makes a simular boat that is timeless also. Those 2 boats are collectors and hard to find. Diesels are worth more money in the long run. Nothing wrong with the Luhrs, Carver or Silverton. Cabo makes a good one too.

Good Luck!
