What kind of boat is this? It's my first boat ever!

Hi everyone, this past weekend I purchased my first boat ever. I'm pretty excited. For the past few days I've been lurking trying to research the boat I purchased and now I have a few questions.

I bought the boat and trolly motor for $300. Did I get ripped off? It looks to be in pretty good condition. The guy I got it from took really good care of it. The paper I got from him said it's a 12 feet, from Sears, and was bought around 1968. However, when I measured it from the top, from end to tip it was about 13 1/2 feet. Like I said, it's my first boat so maybe you're supposed to measure from the bottom. I don't know.

Can anyone tell me what the model is? I'd like to research it but don't have any information. The sticker that tells how much weight and type of motor it can handle is gone. That's one of the most important things for me since I'm a big guy.

The first picture is how it looked before I took the decal strip off of it. I want to reseal everything and paint it so I took it off. Any information about it would be greatly appreciated. I'll make sure to post more pictures as I make more modifications.

All of my pictures didn't fit so I'll add more in a reply to this post.
Thanks in advance.

These are the rest of my pictures of the boat. Once again, any help would be greatly appreciated with identifying it.

Nice rig, welcome to the tin can club! :)

For a 13.5' semi-V hull like that it's probably rated for 10-15hp and around 600lbs total weight.

Not sure what manufacturer, but Sears had several companies make boats that they rebranded for them. They did the same with outboards branded Gamefisher.

My grandpa-in-law has the same boat that was his dad's from back in the day.:)

Perfect fishing boat for two people. A Minn Kota troller will push that thing around great too, if you want to fish some shallow water and not scare the fish.

Thanks for the info Huron Angler and Lady Glady.

Well being compared to Tony Soprano is a lot better than being compared to the people of the Jersey Shore. It's tough being Italian and living in New Jersey lately. Lol. Next time when I talk about boats I'll try to speak like a pirate instead. Argh. Lol.

On the boat length - there are two measurements. One is OAL - overall length - tip to tail. The second one is length at the waterline, which will typically be less than the OAL.

Then again, the registration could have just had screwed up numbers on it - wouldn't be the first time.

Nice Tinny, be sure to post pics of your first day out enjoying it!

Yeah, I like it too. Can't believe how shiny and clean it looks, and it's a really thoughtful design. Slap a 9.9 on 'er and get after it. Welcome aboard and tight lines.

X2. A 9.9 would be perfect for her, a 15 a lot more fun...:D

Have to agree with the Sears Gamefisher or Wards Sea King.

I can tell you that to the best of my knowlege it's not an Alumacraft or Lund.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I found a number stamped into the boat if this means anything. It's 270 954.

Looks alot like the 12' Sears Gamefisher I just sold. That was rated for a 10 hp max. If this is a 14', you may be able to put a 15 hp on her.

It's shaped like a mid 1950's AlumaCraft, however the transom is different. We had one with a 1956 Johnson 18 hp (brown color.)

I've never seen so many rivets in a boat--it's built like a tank. Maybe that's why it's still in use. It appears older than a Sears Gamefisher.

A 9.9 or 15 hp engine would do a great job. One of the modern 4 strokes would also be great--using about no fuel. It's strictly a 2 person boat.

You may have to be careful about using a 4 stroke as they weigh more then a comparable 2 stroke. Besides, I personally wouldn't buy a $250 boat and then put a $2500 4 stoke outboard on it.
