what kind of fuel connector do i need

i have never seen this type before. always had a evinrude with two ploe connector for the fuel line. i seen my 95 9.9 mercury has the sorta same as the evinrude but the 40 has a insert. is this a bayonet styke of a connector or do i need some special one. thanks in advance .

Most stores that sell misc. boating supplies (like Walmart or even your local hardware store) sell fuel line connectors for Merc. Just read the packaging - it will say Merc/Mariner, just like the OMC package would say Johnson/Evinrude. And get the "male" or "female" depending on what you need. Of course any Merc dealer will have them too. Yes, it is more of a bayonet mount, nothing like the OMC type. But it's been pretty much unchanged for many decades (forever?), so it's as commonly available as the OMC type.
