What kind of motor is this??

I have this reg.nbr: 9046840, but my brand of outboard engine does NOT have this kind of number.. Can anyone tell me what kind of motor I actually have?<br /><br />I bought this motor in 1997, and was told it is from 1982..

Hi Diver<br />You did't give us much info at all. <br />I'd say it is a Mercury. The serial number will fit a lot of models, like<br />500 (50,0 hp) 9006164 - 9047653 1973 4 cyl <br />75 hp 9043194 - 9068873 1974 <br />850 (85,0 hp) 9011604 - 9053363 1973 4 cyl<br /><br />Colour?<br />How many cylinders?<br />How many cabs?<br />Elecric start och rope, both?<br />Weight approx?<br />Horsepower approx? 2-10, 15-30, 40-70, 90-?

Hi Bear! Thank you for your answer! <br />The color is black, 3cyl, 2carbs, only electric starter, 50-70HP (?).<br /><br />When I bought this motor in '97, I was told it was a 1982 Merc 70HP. But this can't be right, according to my merc-dealer..<br /><br />Thanks for your help.

Thanks again Bear.<br /><br />I have looked at the exploded view, but the carbs are not the same.. My carbs look more like the 70hp, ser nr: 5579017-6428680.. But these ser.nr are not even close to the one i've got...
